A Wife and Mother Loved by all who knew her. (Communicated,) The Angel of Death has entered our midst and taken from us our dearly beloved mother who passed peacefully from earth on the morning of Sept. 18, 1891. She was a sufferer for more than a year from catarrh of the stomach...[illegible clause].... Deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Kirby was born in the parish of Kenmare, County of Kerry, Ireland in October 1817. In the spring of 1841 she left her friends and native country and emigrated to West Canada, settling in Hamilton. Two years later she was united in marriage at the city of Hamilton to Michael Kiley, who preceded her in death over four years ago. Shortly after their marriage, they set out for the wilds of Wisconsin, arriving in the vicinity of Lake Five in Washington county with nothing but the wild forest in sight scarcely a human habitation to be seen. There she endured all the privations and hardships incident to a pioneer life. Nothing seemed difficulty which would promote the happiness of those around her. She was the mother of six children, four sons and two daughters all of whom are living. The eldest son resides in Waukesha, the others in the vicinity and on the old homestead. Her remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery at Lake Five [St. Columba] on Sunday, Sept. 20, 1891, Father Harlan of Monches, conducting the funeral services.
